Shoot the Messenger
ZAR7 100,00
Shoot the Messenger makes wry commentary on our trigger happy response to how we receive difficult news. In mythology and folk belief, moths are the letter bringers, unfortunately in modern thought, moths and many other creatures that thrive at night are seen as ominous and are frequently at the receiving end of our worst impulses.
The work is a sculptural painting created in various papers, with the wings and small moths made out of layers of japanese mulberry paper, ink painted and put through a number of processes to create the soft furry finish set into a wall of layers of the spectacular textural hand made paper by Soylent Green
